Located in the city of Chicago among the historic, modernist buildings designed by Mies van der Rohe, IIT is a private, Ph.D.-granting university serving 7,700 students and 425 faculty with a focus on science, technology and engineering.

- Rapidly expanding biomedical engineering research program, featuring neural engineering, cell and tissue engineering and medical imaging
- IIT Research Institute Life Sciences Group (IITRI), a leading provider of non-clinical services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in support of Investigational New Drug (IND) submissions. IITRI also has a major NIH funded program in cancer diagnosis and prevention
- Sponsor/partnership with the Institute for Food Safety and Health, the nation’s leading partnership among IIT, the FDA and the food industry to identify novel solutions to protect the nation’s food supply
