“The sort of caliber IIT is providing is a 4.0 graduate student who's published papers on topics like optimization in the electric power industry. My guess is that he might have a few things to teach me about this business.”

Grooming Students Who Think Big: The Idea Shop
Every IIT undergraduate student participates in the Idea Shop. Located in the Technology Business Center, the Idea Shop is a hub for generating breakthrough ideas, where multidisciplinary teams of students guide real-world business ideas from concept to launch. The 13,000-square-foot facility includes computer visualization tools, a state-of-the-art rapid prototyping lab, collaborative team areas and formal classroom space.
The Idea Shop welcomes input from businesses leaders at UTP. Entrepreneurs who want to draw from a talented and motivated pool of students in fields such as applied technology, architecture, business, engineering, psychology, the sciences, and humanities can sponsor and work directly with a class, providing students the opportunity to solve real-world problems and transform ideas into businesses, products and patents.
